Thousands of young carers will spend their summer holidays looking after a sick or disabled relative.
Every week we receive hundreds of applications for crisis grants from struggling families.
"When families face serious difficulties, they may struggle to provide a secure, loving home for their children. Family Action offers support to families when they most need it, giving practical, emotional and financial help so that parents and children can overcome their problems."
Dame Judi Dench MBE
Tim Loughton, MP Coalition Minister has said he is committed to early intervention and support for vulnerable families. Now we need to make sure the commitment turns into practice. Read a transcript of the Minister’s speech at our Parliamentary event with Action for Children England and Children England.
Read why spending on early intervention is Smart Money. Find out more about Family Action’s home-based family support and why C4EO thinks it’s an example of good practice for parents with a mental health problem.
Changes to housing benefit
Many of the families we support have housing difficulties and some may now be forced to move as a result of the recently announced cap on this benefit which will take place from next April. We believe families need the stability of being able to put down roots in local communities and children and young people in particular need the certainty of attending the same school.
If you're on housing benefits and are experiencing problems or believe you will experience problems because of these changes we’d love to hear from you. Read more and contact us with your thoughts. Support our work helping families in poverty. What's this? Follow us on:
