Educational Grants Programme

Family Action offers educational funding through the following grants programmes:

Family Action’s Educational Grants

There are a range of educational grants available through Family Action’s grants programme. Grants are primarily targeted at families and individuals with low incomes, particularly those living on benefits. Grants are available to people from across the UK. While there are no set limits, in general grants are made for £200 to £300. Please note that we can only consider one educational grant application from the same applicant per academic year. Applicants must be studying at a college or university that is affiliated to EGAS

To find out whether you are eligible to apply for a Family Action Educational Grant or another grant making trust complete an online Educational Grant Search.

Horizons Education Fund

There has been enormous interest in Horizons education grants and we have received an unprecedented number of grant applications. As a consequence, after our February deadline, we will not be accepting new grant applications until April 2010. We shall be publishing new grant making criteria and a revised grant application form on the website towards the end of February so please check this web page again at that time.

Funded by Barclaycard, this fund aims to support lone parents who have the motivation, determination and ability to improve their employment prospects. Applicants do not need to be affiliated to EGAS to apply to this fund. Grants are available to people from across the UK. Grants range from a minimum of £500 to a maximium of £1,500. Download a Horizons Grant Application Form.

Help towards the costs of education and training for lone parents is just one aspect of the Barclaycard Horizons Programme. The programme can also offer money advice through Citizens Advice Bureau and help with getting back to work through Gingerbread. Both of these services are free of charge.
