Day Services for Adults

Family Action provide a variety of easily accessible services in Greater London, Wiltshire and across Suffolk and Gorleston for adults who are experiencing, or have experienced, mental health difficulties. All our services work with individuals to identify and work towards their optimum level of recovery and wellbeing.

Our drop in services provide friendship, social activities and support for a variety of problems, alongside the opportunity to purchase wholesome lunches prepared by our caterers. Guidance and signposting to other services is provided if specific help is required.

We also provide community support services, which offer more focused and planned work with individuals, tackling specific, identified areas of need. These services can only be accessed via a referral made by a professional working at the relevant CMHT (Community Mental Health Team).

Our resource centres are for those who need specific emotional and practical support for mental health difficulties. These services are referral only, through either members of the local CMHT or GPs. Everyone referred will be provided with an experienced key worker, who helps to identify and plan a guided programme of group activities and individual support to enable individuals to benefit from the experiences of others whilst moving towards recovery.

In Ipswich, we also operate a mental health employment service, located at the Brooks House Day Service that provides guidance and support on returning to work, volunteering opportunities, gaining new work based skills, e.g. catering, recycling, administration. All of our day services support their members to find meaningful occupations and support people to find peer mentoring and
volunteering opportunities when they are ready to do so. Furthermore, all facilities utilise local resource networks to access and utilise educational, training and recreational opportunities to develop social networks and employment opportunities for members.

All of our mental health services link into our family support services; working with individuals and the whole family, including extended family networks.
