Carers Week 2011

In 2011, Carers week is running from 13th  - 19th June, and it's working to  highlight the invaluable contribution millions of carers around the country provide. Their support saves the NHS billions.

This Carers Week, we're celebrating the amazing work all of our young carers do to support their families, as well as raise valuable awareness about the difficult decisions they face juggling school work and caring responsibilities.

Take a look at what some of our young carers have to say...

Family Action works with young carers across the country, providing them with support to cope with their often overwhelming duties caring for an adult or sibling. We provide:

  • Regular one-to-one support: this is often long term to give young carers the opportunity to talk through their difficulties, emotional stress and pressures
  • Practical help and advice: this may include putting new strategies in place between family members to reduce the young person’s caring role
  • Regular activites and support groups: providing the opportunity for young carers to have a break from their caring role, and have the fun children should have!

We recognise the invaluable contribution that young carers make to their homes and the sacrifices that can sometimes come with this.
