Family Action is an experienced provider of home based family support services for families with multiple and complex needs. We have a record of delivering for many of the “troubled” families whom the Government is targeting. We achieve positive outcomes for families and commissioners.
Family Action has produced a research paper (Autumn 2012), following the results of an internal census of the families we work with. It focuses on school truancy within families - a key area of the Troubled Families Programme - and what schools need to do to tackle truancy effectively. Download a copy of the research paper.
""I congratulate Family Action for the excellent work that they do to transform the lives of the most vulnerable families. Intensive family intervention can successfully turn around the lives of families who have many complex problems."
Children’s Minister Tim Loughton
Family Action provides home based family support, joining up multi-agency working around families. We offer a range of holistic support to the whole family which is both practical and emotional.
We have experience in working with key issues in families, including substance misuse, mental health, domestic violence, special educational needs, school truancy, social isolation and poverty.
Our Work with Troubled Families
We deliver services to a planned programme of change that has been independently evaluated as delivering improved well-being to family members as well as cost savings to commissioners.
Our family support is proven to achieve progress with families with multiple complex needs, both on clinical scales - Building Bridges - and using the Family Star. An independent evaluation of Building Bridges has shown that as well as demonstrating significant improvements in well-being, the Building Bridges model reduces the need for:
- Care Programme Approach (mental health) by 53%
- The Child Protection Register by 46%
- Local Authority Care by 30%
Our services save local authorities money. An independent Social Return on Investment analysis by the Centre for Excellence in Outcomes has shown that for every £1 invested in Building Bridges, the tax-payer is saved at least £2.
The Family Star is a tried and tested outcomes tool which is easily understood by service users, practitioners, commissioners and the local taxpayer.
