Legacies and in Memoriam Gifts

Mum & daughter hugging

""This has changed my life. I’ve learnt to talk to Mum if things are bottling up, and it does work. I hope other kids get the same as I got out of it and I hope you [Family Action] carry on going forever as lots of people have so many problems out there."

11 year old Sam, supported by an Family Action project for families where a parent has an alcohol or substance misuse problem.

Many of the families Family Action support have inherited a heartbreaking legacy of disadvantage and social isolation. Family Action is dedicated to breaking this cycle that casts a shadow over generations. Our support workers offer emotional, practical and financial support; helping families to build on their strengths and empowering them to overcome their difficulties and look towards a brighter future.

A bequest in your will would be an invaluable help – a gift that would enable us to continue to offer vital support to families and help to lift the shadow of disadvantage for generations to come.

How do I leave a legacy to Family Action? It is a relatively simple matter to add a gift to Family Action to your existing will. Yet this one act of kindness will make a huge and lasting difference to future generations of vulnerable and deprived children.

The chances are that you have already made your will and naturally, if you have a family, your main concern will have been to give them the security they need. However increasing numbers of people are choosing to leave a gift to charity in their will, recognising the sense of personal satisfaction and financial efficiency it represents. With the increase in the threshold for Inheritance Tax (to £312,000 in April 2008) a legacy to a charity can reduce the tax liability on what you leave in your will.
