Psychological Therapy and Counselling Services

Family Action operate a number of psychological therapy and counselling services in Greater London and East Anglia. We are particularly proud of our record of working with young people, who are often hard to reach.

Some of our services provide targeted interventions for specific client groups. For example, our women’s mental health project in Lowestoft and Beccles provides focussed counselling to tackle trauma and abuse, unresolved grief, and phobias. We also run support and therapy groups to empower women to take control of their lives.

Family Action counselling services use a variety of approaches including CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) and Brief Solution Focussed Therapy to provide treatment. Most of our services are flexible and utilise a variety of methods to meet an individual’s need. They are based on best practise guidance as issued by NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence).

Family Action is committed to measuring outcomes, in order to demonstrate the impact and value of the work being conducted and has recently acquired permission from the Department of General Practise and Primary Care, Kings College London, to use the PSYCHLOPS ‘psychological outcomes profile’. See PSYCHLOPS for more information.
