Dawn's Story

Family Action's Marlborough Hill centre has made a big difference to my life. I have been attending for several years now. The staff are all caring and supportive. There is always someone to talk to, especially if you are feeling a bit low or depressed.
  
The centre provides several subsidised courses. I am attending photography and computers, which I enjoy very much. There are also subsidised meals, which are always delicious. I enjoy going to the centre; it is spacious and clean. It is a nice respite for me.
   
It is a comfort because I have my independence. It is unfortunate that a lot of people do not understand mental illnesses. We are discriminated [against] by society because of ignorance, which makes me feel too vulnerable to participate in mainstream activities.
