Family Action is launching a fundraising appeal to help families that we are working with who are struggling with food insecurity and other financial pressures as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The financial impact of COVID-19 poses an unprecedented challenge for thousands of vulnerable and low-income families. Although the Government has stepped in to support many people who have lost their jobs due to their workplace closing it is inevitably the families who were already struggling financially before COVID-19 that will be in an even worse position now. Self-isolation, the closure of schools, loss of low-paid work, the absence of free school meals and worries about existing debt will all just increase these financial pressures and the tension within the family home.

To prevent thousands of families struggling even more than the rest of us during these difficult times we need to act now and we need to act fast.

We have the experience to support these vulnerable families and our Emergency Grants Fund is a key part of this.

With your support, we can provide an immediate cash grant to the most vulnerable families, helping to take some of the financial pressure away from them and assisting them to feed their family and pay essential bills during this highly unusual and difficult time. By enabling them to overcome some of the immediate financial pressures, people who receive grants are more able to engage with support and find a way forward.
