Thank you to the employees of Irwin Mitchell’s London office for voting to support Friendship Works as their 2017 charity partner.

We’re really looking forward to working with the team, who will be hosting a variety of fundraising activity throughout the year, such as bake sales, dress down days and special events. Alison Eddy, Regional Managing Partner at Irwin Mitchell London says, “We are very pleased to be supporting Friendship Works as our Charity of the Year and are looking forward to hosting plenty of fundraising activities throughout the year to raise money for this very worthwhile cause. Leaders in British and Irish family history, have recently selected Family Action as one of their new charity partners. Combining socialising with fundraising, their first event ‘Prosecco Friday’ invited all employees to donate £1 for a glass of prosecco to toast the start of the weekend. We’re looking forward to engaging their employees through a calendar of activity to support our work.

 

A UK charitable foundation created by partners of the advisory firm AlixPartners has been supporting our work since 2015. As well as providing vital funding, the Foundation via its links with AlixPartners has also hosted a variety of events to support our Friendship Works service, including our Annual Awards, which celebrates the friendships between the young people and their mentors.

Manulife Asset Management’s London office has been supporting our work since 2016, with their employees organising a host of office fundraisers to raise money for our Friendship Works service.  Manulife Asset Management provides investment solutions for pension plans, foundations, endowments, financial institutions and other investors worldwide.  The company focuses its community efforts in areas that are consistent with our business goals and reflect our strong desire to make positive, meaningful differences in the communities in which we do business: building stronger communities, promoting health and wellness and harnessing the power of volunteerism.

As part of Aon’s Global Service Day nine employees volunteered their time, contacts and powers of persuasion to take part in the Friendship Works Apprentice Challenge. After receiving an overview of our work, their challenge was to source prizes for us to auction later in the year. Incredibly in just over two hours the teams sourced 30 prizes, ranging from signed sporting memorabilia and tickets, to meals out, sky scraper tours and river boat cruises, plus a £5000 donation! After being judged by a not so stern ‘Apprentice’ panel, Team Empower Friendship were crowned the winners on the day.

Anita Davis, who helped put together the team for the Aon Global Day event said  ‘I didn’t expect to find the challenge as rewarding as much as I did. After the presentation we saw why their work is so important and didn’t need any encouragement to get started! We all relished in using our imagination and skills in a new way to meet the challenge to help Friendship Works  get prizes for their auction. We auctioned the prizes at a fundraising event in December and together they raised over £4000! Thank you to all the volunteers, companies and individuals who donated so generously on the day.


We’re really proud of our partnership with BCS Consulting who supported us for two years, from 2013 – 2014.

As well as raising an amazing £40,000 towards our work, the team also donated time, resources and their consulting skills and expertise, to support us as an organisation. Click on the links to read more about their fundraising and in kind support.

Since 2001 teams of runners from Diageo take part in the Virgin Money London Marathon. Diageo have kindly matched the monies raised by the team and to date they have raised an incredible £143,000.

Prudential  supported our ‘Ready to Learn Every Day’ campaign in partnership with the NAHT and sponsored our Toy Appeal in 2014 and 2015, enabling us to grow the appeal significantly and provide presents for over 10,000 children and young people.

Two Sainsbury’s stores chose to support Family Action services in 2015/16 through their Local Charity of the Year partnerships. Staff and customers of Sainsbury’s Balham voted to extend the partnership for another year and will be supporting our young carers service in Wandsworth, through a calendar of fundraising activity.

Family Action are very grateful to Hilton in the Community Foundation  for awarding us a grant of £6650 for  the purchase of a range of sensory play equipment for children under 5 years old with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)  at our Wednesbury Children Centres.
