Emotional Health & Wellbeing Services
Promoting positive emotional health and wellbeing for families and individuals in stigma free, community-based settings.
Being able to see my worker regularly and flexibly has improved the quality of my life enormously, has given me strategies and allowed me to make significant changes in my life and reduce my anxiety. A really, really important service.
Emotional health and wellbeing describes how we think, feel and relate to ourselves and others and how we interpret the world around us. Having good emotional health affects our capacity to manage, communicate, and form and sustain relationships. It also gives us resilience to cope with change and major life events such as the birth of a new baby, bereavement, job loss or divorce.
Good emotional health and wellbeing is not only about feeling confident and happy, it is also about being positively engaged with the world and having a strong sense of self esteem. There is significant evidence that good emotional health and wellbeing also contributes to good physical health.

Family Action offers a range of services that support the emotional health and wellbeing of individuals and families.
Our services are set within local communities offering services users a familiar and non-threatening environment where they can engage with our highly skilled practitioners and work with our volunteers and befrienders.
Our Social Prescribing services are GP based and aim to improve mental health and quality of life and/or to improve symptoms by linking patients with non-medical sources of support within the community; helped by the support of volunteer befrienders.
Our highly successful WellFamily services provide recovery-focused and holistic interventions including a mix of individually targeted and flexible practical and emotional support. The service, which can be based in a number of different settings, provides a ‘single door’ NHS-based approach to families in need so that users with complex problems do not have to deal with several different agencies and professionals.
Family Action also provides a range of support services to adults facing mental health issues or with learning disabilities.
Our orchard and allotment service in Swaffham, Norfolk, focuses on older people, people with disabilities and those experiencing or recovering from mental health issues and welcomes anyone from the local community. The service is working in partnership with The College of West Anglia, supported by the European Social Fund and the Education & Skills Funding Agency, to offer a Level 1 Award in Horticulture. This is a nationally recognised qualification accredited by the National Open College Network.
The service has also been recently named Charity of the Year by the Black Swan Care Group and actively explores working with other community organisations in the Norfolk area.
