Our services

Following a two day Supporting People inspection in August 2014, Family Action’s Supported Housing Service in Lewisham achieved ‘A’ Commissioner Scores across all five QAF objectives.

Family Action provides supported housing services to people experiencing mental illness, enabling them to remain within their community. Services are managed and funded in a range of partnerships involving NHS Trusts, local authorities, Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) and Supporting People.

The emphasis of work is on co-production with service users taking an equal part in planning and skills development; including house meetings, health and safety and attending staff and management meetings. Service users are expected to play a full part in their recovery, attending key work sessions, workshops and fully engaging in the support process.  The support provided is service user centred, holistic and recovery driven in approach and aims to engage with the service users on the areas of their life they see as important for development.

Our supported housing services are guided by the following principles:

  • To provide and evaluate individual support requirements. Each service user is assigned a key worker who helps them to plan their support and review progress.
  • To respect tenants’ rights and to enable and support them to make informed choices about their living environment and lifestyle.
  • To facilitate access to community-based resources and services, such as leisure centres, colleges and employment services.
  • To ensure that anybody involved with our service does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, ethnicity or national origins, gender or sexual preference, marital status, age, religion or disability.
  • Where possible, to meet the individual’s needs through a locally accessible, flexible and fully coordinated multi-disciplinary service. The appropriateness and performance of the service is regularly reviewed by tenants and stakeholders.
  • To work with tenants to provide a safe and suitable living environment according to individual need.
  • To ensure that tenants’ needs are met in accordance with health and safety requirements.
