Medway Pregnancy to Three Support Service
Providing emotional and wellbeing support to struggling families during pregnancy and the first 3 years after birth.
We provide support to Medway families where a parent is struggling with their emotional health or well-being during pregnancy and the first 3 years after birth. Our Pregnancy to Three Support Service is for parents who have, or are at risk of developing, mild to moderate mental health issues, including anxiety and post-natal depression. Our service has been specifically designed to respond to the impact of the pandemic on families with babies/young children.
We provide support to parents in two ways, according to your needs and situation. We can provide a trained one-to-one volunteer ‘peer supporter’ who can offer emotional support and help to access services in your local community.
We also offer small and welcoming targeted Baby Groups, Baby Massage Courses, Stay and Play sessions, and a Dad’s Group to develop and improve parent’s emotional well-being, encourage bonding and attachment as well as reducing isolation.
We offer targeted support to small groups in a variety of community venues around Medway to aid bonding and attachment, improve parental confidence and reduce isolation.
Our Antenatal Solihull course, Baby Groups, Stay and Plays and Dad’s Group help parents to explore the benefits of play encouraging their baby’s positive development, as well as ways to connect and bond with their child through games, activities and bonding interactions.
Our peer supporters can also visit service users within their own home and community if this is required, and we can signpost users to other local services which may offer additional support.
Pregnant women or parents of young children (up to the age of 3) identified as potentially benefiting from this service can also be referred by their midwife, GP, Health Visitor, Mental Health Practitioner, Family Hub or Community Provider. They will need to complete a short referral form which can be accessed by emailing us. [email protected]
Alternatively, families can also find out about accessing the service directly as a self-referral by contacting Family Action on [email protected]
Family Action has a range of volunteering opportunities available in Medway working with parents and young families. If you are interested in volunteering as a one-to-one peer supporter or alternatively by supporting at the Baby/Child sessions, please email the service on [email protected].
