Launched with the support of the Mayor of London in 2014, we are delighted that HeadStart is now part of Family Action, helping us to support many more young people and local communities across the country.

What is HeadStart?

With the help of our fantastic charity and corporate partners, HeadStart inspires and supports young people to engage in a positive and meaningful way with people from different backgrounds through volunteering – with the added benefit of professional employability workshops and interview experience with leading brands.

Over 11,000 young people have already contributed more than 200,000 hours of volunteering to their local communities through HeadStart.

If you’re aged 16-19, thinking about getting a full-time job, taking up an apprenticeship, entering further education, or just want to improve your general confidence and experience for the future, HeadStart can help.

Gain skills and experience

Volunteering is life-enriching, but also gives you something different to talk about during interviews, as well as put in your personal statement and on your CV. As a volunteer with one of our charity or community partners, you’ll also gain exclusive access to our employability workshops.

Best of all, every young person that has volunteered for 16 hours or more with HeadStart is guaranteed interview experience with one of our corporate partners, like Nando’s or Starbucks. Even if you don’t want a job now, it’s an amazing opportunity to experience a professional interview, and we’ll provide the support and training you need to guide you through the process.
