Family Action offers a flexible Behaviour Outreach Support Service (BOSS) for schools, local authorities and MATs across England.

Our aims

Our BOSS service aims to reduce the risk of exclusion and develop the ability of schools to support children displaying behaviour that challenges.

What we provide

Family Action can be commissioned by a local authority, a MAT or an individual school/academy to provide a package of support to meet their needs, including for instance:

  • targeted outreach (1:1 / group)
  • restorative approaches
  • therapeutic interventions
  • training and consultancy
  • parent support
  • assessments and advice

Download our flyer to find out more about our flexible offer. See an example of how we are delivering our BOSS service in one local authority.

Our impact

Our BOSS work has demonstrated many benefits on schools, children and families. For example:

  • reduction in fixed-term and permanent exclusions
  • increase in pupil wellbeing
  • increase in staff confidence in managing a range of difficult behaviours
  • fewer instances of classroom disruption

70% of young people at risk of exclusion referred to us remain in education.
