Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing

Family Action offers the following popular workshops:

  • Mental Health First Aid (Adult): This two-day MHFA accredited workshop looks at how to identify, understand and help a person who may be developing a mental health issue such as anxiety and depression.
  • Mindfulness in the Workplace: In this workshop, delegates will gain an awareness of the benefits of mindfulness in the workplace and how to manage stress anxiety in themselves and others.

In addition, we can also run workshops focusing on issues such as: Perinatal Mental Health Awareness;  Strengthening Wellbeing and Professional Resilience; Managing Conflict at Work; Managing Staff with Family Problems.

Adoption and Fostering

Family Action can deliver a wide range of workshops to support professionals working within the field of adoption and fostering, including:

  • Panel Administrators: The focus of this workshop is on legislative requirements for panels, arranging effective panel meetings, taking minutes and quality assurance.
  • The Emotional Wellbeing of Foster Carers and Adopters: This workshop offers carers the chance to reflect on their well-being, recognise signs of stress and develop strategies to build resilience.
  • Panel Chairs and Advisers:  This workshop will give Panel Chairs and Advisers the opportunity to review their role and discuss issues arising from their work.
  • Dynamic and Interactive Assessments:  Family placement social workers will use a range of interactive assessment methods to engage with prospective foster carers and adopters.
  • Assessing Prospective Foster Carers: This workshop focuses on developing assessment plans, applying frameworks for analysis, and using tools for assessment.
  • Agency Decision Makers: Delegates will share best practice, consider issues relevant to the role, and try out resources to assist decision making.

Early Years

Family Action supports early years staff through training focusing on issues such as:

  • Death, Grief and Bereavement: This workshop will help early years staff better understand the initial reactions of children experiencing bereavement, and explore practical ways of supporting them.
  • Female Genital Mutilation (FGM): In this workshop delegates will examine the cultural context of FGM, potential risk indicators, recent case law and legislation, and how to approach girls who may be affected.
  • Domestic Violence: This workshop will help delegates understand what domestic abuse is, recognise signs of abuse, and be aware of support available to victims.

We can also deliver training focusing on issues such as: Mental Health First Aid (Youth); Child Sexual Exploitation; Attachment, Trauma and Loss.

Mental health, female genital mutilation (FGM) and domestic violence are among schools’ key concerns. Family Action can offer training to help schools and academies address these concerns, such as:

  • Mental Health First Aid (Youth): This two-day MHFA-accredited workshop looks at how to identify, understand and help a young person who may be developing a mental health issue.
  • Female Genital Mutilation (FGM): This workshop looks at the cultural context of FGM, potential risk indicators, recent case law and legislation, and how to approach girls who may be affected.
  • Domestic Violence: This workshop will help delegates understand what domestic abuse is, recognise signs of abuse, and be aware of support available to victims.
  • Supporting Young Carers: This workshop focuses on improving the identification and support of young carers in schools, so that they get the help they need.

We also run a variety of other workshops, such as: Death, Grief and Bereavement; Child Sexual Exploitation; Attachment, Trauma and Loss; Looking after Teachers; Pathological Demand Avoidance.

Children and Families

Family Action offers a wide range of training to support professionals working with children and families across the country, such as:

  • Perinatal Mental Health Awareness: This workshop will help to build professionals’ knowledge and confidence in working with parents who are experiencing mild to moderate perinatal mental illness.
  • Female Genital Mutilation (FGM): This workshop looks at the cultural context of FGM, potential risk indicators, recent case law and legislation, and how to approach girls who may be affected.
  • Domestic Violence: This workshop will help delegates understand what domestic abuse is, recognise signs of abuse, and be aware of support available to victims.
