Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults

Family Action believes that every child has the right to be safe and that the welfare of children and young people is paramount. It is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and seeks to ensure that all of its services, staff and volunteers work to achieve the best outcomes for them.

Family Action’s services work with a range of vulnerable children and their families. Rising thresholds for access to statutory children services provision means that Family Action works with varying degrees of risk, sometimes alone but more usually in close partnership with statutory safeguarding services. As safeguarding underpins all of our children and family work, Family Action needs to be confident that its safeguarding policies, procedures and practices are robust and subject to regular review.

Family Action recognises that safeguarding children is everyone’s business and responsibility. As safeguarding is a priority throughout the organisation it has allocated significant resources to support this commitment in order to make Family Action a safer organisation for children, families, staff and volunteers.

Family Action also works with vulnerable adults with enduring mental health problems through its provision of day, residential and supported housing services. Working in partnership with statutory services we work to ensure that our adult service users are able to lead productive lives free from harm and abuse.
