About this role
Our admin volunteers provide valuable support to our services. Having a volunteer to help with tasks such as answering the phone, greeting visitors, or helping with administrative tasks means our frontline staff get more time to focus on providing support to families in need.
What is the time commitment?
This role is for 3 hours per week approximately. Minimum commitment for 6 months.
Who will you be helping?
Babies (0-2yrs), Families, Parents, Pre-schoolers (3-5yrs)
What difference will you make?
Our Admin volunteers are a very valuable part of our services. They support the day-to-day running of our charity, enabling us to reach more people through our work.
Your support at our Family Action centre or office makes a direct difference to the lives of families and individuals, by ensuring that our front-line staff can spend more time giving people who use our services the practical and emotional support they need.
Children's Centre Assistant volunteers support our Information, Advice and Admin Workers with a variety of tasks to help with the day to day running of the centres and support with office duties. This is a varied role that will often involve being a point of contact for families and partner organisations visiting the centres.
Who are we looking for?
There is no typical Family Action volunteer. We want our volunteers to be as diverse as the people we support.
We need volunteers with a range of life experiences, skills and knowledge to. In return for giving your time and talents, you will receive quality training, ongoing support, and the reward of knowing that you are making a real difference. This role will particularly suit volunteers who:
· Are computer literate
· Have good written and verbal communication skills
· Have a friendly telephone manner
· Have some previous admin experience (useful but not essential)
What's in it for you?
Family Action volunteers tell us that volunteering with us can be challenging at times, but it is also very rewarding. Many of our Admin Volunteers also report that volunteering has helped them:
· Develop more confidence
· Build skills for work
· Improve their computer skills
· Get used to working in an office environment
· Learn more about working in Social Care.
· Feel like they are making a positive difference
All Family Action volunteers receive full training and access to ongoing supervision and support for as long as they are in the role.
