Mill Race Community Support Service provides a range of day services to people over 18 with a learning disability and/or autism. The service is well established within the local community and is dedicated to helping people improve their wellbeing and live independent lives.

The service aims to:

  • Provide a safe, caring, and friendly place for people with a learning disability and/or autism to come together and socialise
  • Give people with a learning disability and/or autism the opportunity take part in fun activities and learn new skills

How it works

We provide a wide range of fun activities and day services. Our expert team of trained staff and volunteers support service users to choose the right activity for them. To achieve this we use the Life Star tool, which helps find out more about each person’s ability and how we can best help.

We work closely with service users’ support plans and care staff to make sure the choices and activities we provide are in line with plan outcomes. These outcomes are reviewed regularly to ensure these remain accurate and relevant. The activities we provide include:

  • Games and sports
  • Music and dance sessions
  • Swimming
  • Cooking and living skills
  • Photography
  • Local walks
