“Just want to say what a brilliant service you are. You have and continue to help us so
much. Don't know what we'd do without you! Thank-you”

Parent – Family Action Ealing ISAID Information, Advice and Support Service

Our SEN and Disabilities (SEND) Services work with children and their families and young people up to the age of 25.

A child or a young person has a learning difficulty or disability if he or she:

• has a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age, or

• has a disability which prevents or hinders him or her from making use of facilities of a kind generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream schools or mainstream post-16 institutions

Family Action is committed to supporting  the child or young person as well as their parents or carers to access services and support to enable both to realise their full potential.

Our services

Family Action offers a range of support for families of children with SEND. In addition to a number of specialist ADHD and autism services we are also the largest provider of Information, Advice and Support Services (formerly Parent Partnership services) in the country.

Our support is always tailored to individual families and young people based on their needs and circumstances. We ensure that  families have access to confidential and impartial information, advice and support to enable them to make informed decisions about SEND. Following changes to government legislation we will now also support young people aged 18-25 directly, either with their parents/carers or by themselves.

We strive to overcome initial stigma and barriers and work at a local level with key partners to ensure local needs are met and barriers to accessing services are highlighted and addressed. This is pertinent for minority and ‘hard to reach’ groups – effective engagement is achieved through successful partnership working with community groups, local authority services and other relevant voluntary sector organisations .

Our services are holistic in the way they engage with and support families, and are highly responsive to their needs. Our services are delivered in full compliance with service specification requirements as well as the Children and Families Act; the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2014); and best practice standards set out in minimum standards and exemplifications relating to these types of services (2010).

Our impact

Family Action is a leading organisation in the use of a suite of Outcomes Stars, particularly the Family Star. We also use My Star and Teen Star to capture children’s experience of the changes they are experiencing during our intervention. To measure impact, families’ journeys are tracked from referral stage all they way through our engagement with them.

We work in accordance with NPPN Minimum Standards and always aim to achieve Best or Good Practice. With regard to our Information, Advice and Support Services, activity and outcomes are monitored by our Information, Advice and Support Services Management Group (SMG).
