West Suffolk Neurodevelopmental Support Service
‘When a flower doesn't bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.” Alexander Den Heijer.
We support parents and carers of children in the geographical areas of Forest Heath, Bury St Edmunds Town and Bury St Edmunds Rural who are waiting for, or undergoing, a neurodevelopmental assessment, or where there has been a recent diagnosis of autism or ADHD or other neurodiverse condition. We offer 1:1 parent support, courses, peer support groups, and a range of workshops covering issues raised by parents/carers.
We offer support to parents/carers by listening and giving advice and guidance. This includes for example, behaviour and routines, schools and education, anxiety and sleep:

Volunteers are very much encouraged to join the team, especially if you have experience of living with a child or young person with neurodevelopmental differences. You will have the opportunity to participate in our coffee & chat, peer support groups, and workshops, in order to share lived experiences, offer general support and advice and support families who often feel isolated and overwhelmed through caring for a child or young person with additional needs.
If you’re keen to make a difference, take a look at our current volunteer opportunities or get in touch with us directly.
Our service is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
