Family Action SEND services, provide expert, impartial legal advice, practical guidance and emotional support to help children and families navigate the health, social care and education systems and feel empowered to get the help they need.
SENDIASS services are Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information, Advice and Support Services. Local Authorities are required by law to provide these as impartial services to young people and families that are independent from the local authority. Family Action run 9 of these across England. We have also developed services that support children and young people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and specialist schools provision to reduce school exclusions [link to BOSS].

Our services are holistic in the way they engage with and support families, and are highly responsive to their needs. Family Action is committed to supporting the child or young person as well as their parents or carers to access services and support to enable both to realise their full potential.

Family Action is a leading organisation in the use of a suite of Outcomes Stars, particularly the Family Star. We also use My Star and Teen Star to capture children’s experience of the changes they are experiencing during our intervention. To measure impact, families’ journeys are tracked from referral stage all they way through our engagement with them.
We work in accordance with NPPN Minimum Standards and always aim to achieve Best or Good Practice. With regard to our Information, Advice and Support Services, activity and outcomes are monitored by our Information, Advice and Support Services Management Group (SMG).
